Jaipur, the City of Victory, is chaotic and congested; though it still has a habit of tickling everyone pink. The city which once had been the capital of the royalty now is the capital city of Rajasthan. Stunning hilltop forts and glorious palaces fit like footprints from a rich royal past, candy floss – bright turbans blaze a trail through brilliant bargain-filled bazaars, and fluttering saris catch the eye like butterflies.
Today Jaipur celebrates its 284th Birthday with all the glory and enthusiasm.
On this day in 1727, Jaipur was founded by the ruler Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, after whose name the city has been founded and since then the residents of the city have been able to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the city. This Heritage city has so much to show to everyone who comes here.
“Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh was an intelligent king” is supported by the fact the way this Heritage city has been beautifully built way back in 1727, with cross roads i.e. each road leads to the Main Roadand ensures you are never lost in the city.
Also the city had a very well planned drainage system to maintain hygiene and a number of tunnels to keep up the security of the land. Although we claim to keep our city clean but we have not been able to keep it up mainly because of our own caprice and extensive use of polythene. The Jaipur city has 7 resplendent Darwazas or Doors to enter the city, like Ajmeri Gate, Sanganeri Gate, and more. Apart from these this Heritage city boosts of statuesque Heritage monuments such as World renowned Jantar Mantar-The Observatory which is indeed a must see for anyone who visits Jaipur also can be attributed to the Maharaja , Hawa Mahal – a monument which has Jharokas from where the ladies of the Royal family could see daily proceedings and processions and many more.
Within these glorious 284 years Jaipur has now become a connoisseur of admirable heritage and modern world. Where there are huge palaces there are also Hi-tech Multiplexes, you’ll see bullock carts running in the city where the metro rail project is on its way. This is all that makes Jaipur, the Pink City to have a special place in its dwellers’ heart.
Jaipur, so far is the most beautiful gift of Maharaja Sawai Jaisingh ji not only to its habitats but to the World population. Its magnanimous architecture, its welcoming people, its awe inspiring culture and what not….. attract people from around the globe. Every thing in Jaipur is just mesmerizing.
Jaipur has so much that this space falls short so watch out for more on this pretty Pink City and Rajasthan.
Happy Birthday Jaipur! We owe you every thing and take total responsibility for tampering with your excellence. Keep spreading happiness in our life, like always.
