Often in your own city or may be in a foreign land you must have used a prepaid taxi service at bus stands or railway stations in the past. Now, for the first time in the country, there will be a prepaid camel safari service for lakhs of tourists coming to Jaisalmer from November 1, 2012.
Yes you read it right, if you come to the Sam sand dunes at Jaisalmer, you will find a prepaid camel service for desert safari.
The district administration decided to start prepaid camel safari after receiving some cheat and fraud complaints from the stranded tourists. As per the officials, in the prepaid safari, the tourists will be given a token after depositing the money, which the tourist has to return after the safari finishes. In the same way, the tokens for identification will be issued to the camel riders as well.
The tourists will also be protected from ‘lapkas’ who forcibly stop the tourist vehicles in the middle of the road and there will be continuous monitoring. Similarly, directions have been issued to remove illegal dhabas near the Sam road.
