Jodhpur Festival – 08th to 16th December, 2012

Abhaneri Festival


The Department of Tourism, Rajasthan in collaboration with the Dausa District Administration will organize a three days’ festival in the Abhaneri village (80 kms from Jaipur) from November 29 to December 01, 2012to promote Heritage Tourism in the area. The three day Abhaneri Festival will be a mixture of live cultural performances, village safari, and a craft bazaar.

“Abhaneri is an ancient 9th Century village in Rajasthan, which is famous for its post-Gupta and early medieval period monuments. The village has contributed numerous pieces of sculpture to various museums across the world. The Abhaneri step-well and Harshat Mata Temple (9th Century) are amongst the major attractions here.

The Abhaneri step-well “Chand Baori” will be the venue for day-long live cultural performances of Hela Khayal, Terahtali (both famous folk music of the district), Kacchi Ghodi (famous folk dance), Bahrupia (cultural performance) among others. Meanwhile, during the day the visitors can opt to visit the step-well or go for a safari on camel cart. Craftsmen and artisans are coming from all over the state to participate in the Art and Craft exhibition at Abhaneri.

Ranakpur Festival: Live the cultural folklore of Rajasthan


Ranakpur, a village located in Desuri tehsil near Sadri town in the Pali district of Rajasthan welcomes you all to the grand festival of 2012 “The Ranakpur Festival” starting from 28th November to 01st December, 2012.

Department of Tourism, Rajasthan, is organizing this festival which comprises of holy chanting, cultural programmes, conventional Kathak performances and Classical Bharat Natyam performances.

The evening cultural programme is scheduled to start from 6.30 pm at the amphitheater that has been constructed within the premises of the Ranakpur temple. Also find the detailed programme schedules for Ranakpur Festival Events.

28th November, 2012: Bharat Natyam by Padmashree Geeta Chandran

29th November, 2012: Sufi songs by Zilla Khan

30th November, 2012: Kathak dance by members of Jaipur Kathak centre

1st December, 2012: Closing ceremony with performance by renowned Rajasthani Folk Artists.

Besides, every morning at 8.00 o’clock a free jungle safari will also be organized for the guests of Ranakpur Festival. Some of the other attractions of this festival would be the food and craft bazaar where a great mixture of several cultures and amazing art & craft would be seen and experienced along with the arrangements for Rock Climbing.

Ajmer-Ahmedabad Special trains to run from November 26, 2012


The Indian railways have started a new weekly holiday special train between Ajmer and Ahmedabad in view of the vacation rush. This train would start its first journey from November 26, 2012 and carry the passengers til December 26, 2012.

The North Western Railway official has confirmed that the Ajmer-Ahmedabad Holiday special train is scheduled to depart from Ajmer from November 26 to December 24 on Mondays at 09.20am with an arrival time of 07.00pm at Ahmedabad. It would return from Ahmedabad on Wednesdays at 06.05 in the morning from November 28 to December 26 and would reach Ajmer at 03.55pm.

This train would at Byawar, Marwar Junction, Phalna, Sirohi Road, Abu Road, Palanpur, Siddhpur, Uunjha, Mehsana, and Sabarmati Stations.

Apart from the Ajmer-Ahmedabad Holiday Special,  Agra-Jaipur Shatabdi Express and Bikaner-Delhi Sarai Rohilla would run from November 28 and December01, respectively.

Gamak, the film making workshop in Jaisalmer

Jaipur-Agra Fort Shatabdi Express to run from November30, 2012


The pink city is all set to receive the gift of Shatabdi express this month. Announcement about the train was made in the union rail budget 2011. As per the Railway officials, Coaches of the luxury train have now reached Jaipur and the train would come down on track from November 30, 2012.

The Jaipur-Agra fort Shatabdi express is scheduled to depart from Jaipur at 7:05 in the morning with an arrival time of 10:35 at Agra. It would return from Agra fort at 4:20 in the evening and would reach Jaipur at 7:50 pm. The train would only halt at Bharatpur station during its journey.
