Set in the rambling greens, the Stunning Raj Mahal Palace is going to get a refurbished look in collaboration with t he internationally acclaimed SUJAN Group. With its awe inspiring original marble staircase, intricate chandeliers and mirrored ceilings, the SUJAN Raj Mahal Palace will initially comprise 20 suites and rooms, two restaurants, a bar, swimming pool, as well as a SUJÁN Spa.
Originally built in 1729 by the Maharaja of Jaipur, the palace has stood witness to over two hundred years of history. In 1821, Rajmahal became the official residence of the British Resident Political Officer of Rajputana and in 1958 HH Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II – the celebrated and dashing ‘Maharaja Jai Singh’ – chose it as his private residence. Over the decades this remarkable ‘Grande Dame’ has hosted Her Majesty the Queen & the Duke of Edinburgh along with several other members of the British Royal Family. Celebrated personalities such as Jackie Kennedy, Lord & Lady Mountbatten and many of the international ‘jet set’ have been part of the history of the Palace.
SUJÁN will reopen the palace by November 2014 in its latest avatar, completely redesigned and refurbished with vigorous flair by the highly acclaimed and accomplished designer Adil Ahmad. Specially commissioned for this unique task by The Royal Family of Jaipur, Ahmad is also the Creative Director of Charbagh, Good Earth.
We hope that Raj Mahal Palace is revived and once again celebrated; in the true spirit of royal Rajputana.
