A huge number devotees and saints from across the country are flocking the sacred town of Pushkar to take a dip in the holy waters of its sacred Lake as part of the ‘maha snan’ (big bath) today i.e. November 06, 2014 on the fourteenth day of Kartik month in the Hindu calendar. A heavy rush of devotees and saints is seen since morning at the ghats.

Taking a dip into the lake at Saptrishi Ghat in this sacred month is believed to wash away all the sins. As per the ritual, the ‘shahi snan’ is for saints and seers and they arrive before the full moon for the bath. The same ritual also prevails in Maha Kumbh.
