Ajmer city, situated in the state of Rajasthan at a distance of around 132 Km from the capital city of Jaipur, is famed for its Pushkar city – a pilgrimage where the World’s only Brahma Temple is situated, for Ajmer Shariff Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, for Nareli Jain Temple lined up on the hill and also for hosting the world famous ‘Pushkar Fair’.
With all these things Ajmer, has become a favourite spot for domestic and international tourists.
To preserve and to revive the soul of this heritage city is of utmost importance. Looking at the present infrastructure, the central government as part of a new initiative under Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) Ajmer city is shortlisted for central government’s ‘Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY)’
Plans are also to desilt, clean and beautify two water bodies Ana Sagar and Foy Sagar lakes of the city.
Not to forget when American President Mr. Barack Obama was in India during the month of January 2015, India signed agreement with the US for developing Ajmer as Smart city.
Surrounded by the oldest Aravali mountain range soon Ajmer,could be transformed into a 21st-century “smart city” 🙂
