India is a finery of arts and crafts and every state savors in its specialty. Craft over the years have become a catalytic tool for empowerment. Since ages Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur has been nurtured as a centre of artistic excellence, but for the first time Jaipur has made India’s maiden entry to the Creative City Network of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the Crafts and Folk Arts Category.
The UNESCO runs a Creative Cities Network with a view to promote creativity and culture industry. Recently, the UNESCO designated Jaipur as one of the members of this Creative Cities Network for its indigenous art and crafts.
UNESCO’s creative network aims to foster international cooperation with and between cities committed to investing in creativity as a driver for sustainable urban development, social inclusion and cultural vibrancy.
