In no time now, the intra-state air service will be extended on six new routes of Rajasthan that’ll include Ahmedabad and Delhi. Rajasthan Government has given consent to this proposal and the same to the Union Civil Aviation Ministry for necessary formalities.

A letter has been sent to the Civil Aviation by Chief Secretary Ashok Jain, that states, “It has been decided to expand the intra-air services on six routes which are Jaipur-Kota, Delhi-Sawai Madhopur, Delhi-Kishangarh, Delhi-Shri Ganganagar, Jodhpur-Ahmedabad and Jaipur-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer”

Earlier, Supreme Airlines was commissioned for operation of flights on a regular basis on Jaipur-Udaipur-Bikaner routes. In the previous Budget the CM had announced to expand intra-air services to other cities and the letter written by the CS comes in its continuance. In the letter, the CS has recommended for the same air operator Supreme Airlines to run the operations on new routes. In the letter it has also been requested that the department commence flight operations immediately after completion of necessary formalities and receipts of mandatory approvals and no objections certificates (NOC) from respective organisations by the air operator.

This initiative by Rajasthan Government in collaboration with civil aviation department will boost tourism in the desert state as Sawai Madhopur, where Ranthambore National Park is located, will get connected to Delhi. Also, Ajmer, known for Dargah and Puskhar, has also been proposed to be connected under the proposal. The two states, Delhi and Gujarat have come under the expansion of the services, which will further fetching more tourists from various locations.

Direct flights

Rajasthan’s Ganaganagar city is all set to expand its airstrip to facilitate intra-state air services connecting the district with Jaipur and Delhi.

Although, there is already an airstrip at Lalgarh but district administration has planned to expand it both ways for landing of commercial flights. According to sources, government is planning to start air services to the border district before next tourist season. The first flight of an intra-state air service from Jaipur to Udaipur via Jodhpur was launched on October 4 last year.

Government has tied up with Supreme Transport Organisation Pvt Ltd., to operate air services between different cities in the state. Several locations of world-class tourism, religious, historical and heritage importance would be benefitted by these air operations.

On an average, Rajasthan attracts over 12 lakh foreign and over two crore domestic tourists every year. Travel pundits hope that these kinds of air services would certainly help in giving a fillip to tourist footfall.

In fact, tourists had to travel by road and so were avoiding some places in Rajasthan. Now, with good air connectivity, tourists would be able to see more cities and spend more time in the Desert State.

The Rajasthan government is all set to launch an air taxi service which will help connect major industrial and tourism points in the state.

As per the plan, the general administration department will give on rent the state government-owned planes to individuals and organizations for flying in the state. Rajasthan has two planes and airports are functional in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur.  Work on airports is on in Kota and Ajmer while defense -owned airports are operational in Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Barmer. The state also has a number of airstrips and helipads.

To begin with, these two airplanes will be operational with a capacity of seven passengers each as air taxis and charge a minimum fare of Rs.10, 000 per person. The condition is the planes will only fly when all seats are booked.

This service will not only cut down the time it takes to reach major destinations in Rajasthan but will also save tourists from terrible roads of the state. In past several tourists have made complains about the conditions of roads in Rajasthan. With air taxi service, Rajasthan will save the tourists from such nightmares.
