Rajasthan Divas Festival kicked off with grand opening at SMS Stadium Jaipur

‘Rajasthan Festival’ began with a grand cultural extravaganza choreographed by none other than the well-known Director and Playwright, Bhanu Bharti. More than 300 hundred folk artistes from the State and all over the country gave a scintillating performance. The event was organized by the Department of Tourism today at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.

The Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Kalyan Singh was the Chief Guest of the event. The Special Guests for the event were the Sports Minister, Shri Gajendra Singh Khimsar and Minister of State for Tourism, Smt. Krishnendra Kaur (Deepa).

The 110-minute programme included Mass Band display by Army, Air Force as well as Rajasthan Police. The songs performed  by the bands were; Dharti Dhoran RiPal Pal Dil ke Paas and Jaha Dal- Dal Pe by Rajasthan Police Central Band; Vande Mataram, Chak De India, Jai Ho by Air Force Band, Pallu Latke Hai, Classical Kathak , Medley of Hindi songs like, Mere Sapno Ki Rani by Army Band and Sare Jahan Se Acha by combined performance by all the three bands.

Performances choreographed by Bhanu Bharti included Shiv Mudra (Nagpur) followed by dance sequence — Chakhri, Gair, Chari, Dhapchang, Dhamaal (Haryana), Paika (Jharkhand) and Mewasi (Gujarat). These performances were presented to the tune of Langa Mangiyaar. Other performances on the occasion were include – Bhadoi Shikla (Assam), Kathak Jaipur and Chhabeli Dance(Uttarakhand), Lai Haroba (Manipur). The performance will conclude with Holi Dance by contingent of all artistes.

The Rajasthan Divas Torch was brought by winners of the ‘Rajasthan Day Marathon’ from the Divisional Headquarters of the State. It first reached Ambedkar Circle and then Amar Jawan Jyoti and finally at the SMS Stadium where the Chief Guest and special guests lighted the Festival Cauldron.

The evening also saw the finals of the ‘Rumal Jhapatta’ and Tug-of-War as a part of the Rural Sports Competition.

During the opening day festivities the divisional tableaus were displayed at Janpath along with folk performances on both sides of the road. Grand fireworks display was also a part of the exciting programme.

Jaipur Kathak Samaroh at Central Park

The 2-day ‘Jaipur Kathak Samaroh’ began at 8 pm at the Central Park. The Chief Guest for the occasion were the Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, Art & Culture, Government of Rajasthan, Mr. N.C. Goyal. There were performances of ‘Devi Stuti’, ‘Kesariya Balam Padharo Mhare Desh’, ‘Chaturang’ and ‘Thumri’. While ‘Devi Stuti’ and ‘Kesariya Balam Padharo Mhare Desh’ were presented by Jaipur Kathak Kendra under the direction of Dr. Rekha Thakar; ‘Chaturang’ and ‘Thumri’ were presented under the direction of Harish Gangani from Shri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra.

‘Devi Stuti’ showcased the victory of good over evil when Goddess Durga slaughters Asur. This was followed by ‘Kesariya Balam Padharo Mhare Desh’. The performance presented the moods of the women of Rajasthan. A part of the lives of these women go through separation when their heroes go abroad and fight in war. The performance showcased how beauty emerges from the various activities that the women do when their men come back from war, like getting dressed up, get excited and involve themselves in auspicious activities around the house.

Mika Singh & Badshah To Go Live In Jaipur

Rajasthan has truly become the first choice for incredible events. Frown no more as here’s another reason for you to enjoy the spirit of yet another Desert Camel Festival of India, which is just a week away! The Bikaner Camel Festival is the next big desert festival where camels are the center of attraction for tourists and locals as well 🙂

 

This year the two days Festival of Camels will be organized on January 14-15, 2017. Organized by the department of tourism Rajasthan at Junagarh Fort, Bikaner Camel Festival would host numerous tourist attractions, which include camel races, camel milking, fur cutting design, and many other exciting games. The festival will begin with camel rides and camel safaris for the tourists at the Gram Raisar early morning. This will be followed by a Shobhayatra from Junagarh to Dr Karni Singh Stadium with the inaugural ceremony at the stadium.

The ceremony will include performances by the Bagpiper Army Band and RAC Band. On the occasion competitions like camel decoration, Miss Marwan and Mr. Bikana will also take place.

Jodhpur’s “Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF)” is here to spark up the moods!

On chilling October evenings, when the sun is setting and the sky is filled with orange and reddish hues, you hear light music passing by your ears and the wind embracing your skin gently.  Everybody wrapped in shawls and sweaters, occupying their place on the majestic Mehrangarh Fort, and listening to the enthralling music of Rajasthani Folk musicians. This is exactly how the setting of Jodhpur’s Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF) is, which is conducted every year in and around Jodhpur’s Mehrangarh Fort.

Jodhpur RIFF is among the world’s top 25 music concerts which soak you totally into Rajasthani culture. This year, the fest is being conducted from 13th to 17th October. The event goes on from day to night where talented performers showcase their area of expertise and enthrall the spectators. Pushkar Camel Fair is a unique event. The fair is basically a market for animal trading but over the years it has turned into a cultural extravaganza. At Pushkar Fair, you not only get to see cattle and animal trading but witness the true colors of Rajasthan. Folk performances, markets for everything Rajasthani and delicious food add to the spectacle.

What to Expect at Pushkar Camel Fair

Expect lots of fun and amazement! As the name suggests, you will see thousands of camels at the fair area. The camels are beautifully decorated. They are brought here not only for trading but also for entertainment of the tourists. A camel ride is not to be missed. Camel decoration contests and races are held at the fair. Besides camels, you can enjoy horse-riding too.

If you have an adventurous streak, taking a hot-air balloon ride over the bustling terrain has to be in your list. Seeing all the activities from top is amazing and you can take a chopper ride too.

Musical performances by folk artists from all over Rajasthan are the major draws. Live dance and singing performances by talented performers make the time special. Besides music, you will also see acrobatics and comic performances at Pushkar Fair.

The famous longest-moustache competition manages to attract a lot of people every year. Besides witnessing the games, you can also participate in some of them like matka race, turban tying and kite flying.

Shopping is yet another attraction of this week-long fair. You can but Rajasthai prints and other art and crafts to take back with you. You will also see that decoration items for camels, cattle and women are sold side by side at the fair.

The Beauty of Pushkar City

When you are at Pushkar Fair, you are not limited to enjoying just the fair but it is also a great time to see the holy Pushkar city at its best. There are very few Lord Brahma temples in the world and Pushkar has the most well-known of them all. When in Pushkar, you should visit the temple. Besides visiting the temple, taking a dip in the holy Pushkar Sarovar nearby is also part of the ritual.

Pushkar has no airport and the nearest airport is the Sanganer International Airport at Jaipur. From Jaipur you can reach Pushkar by road or by train in 2 hours.

Pushkar is well connected by train and by road from many other cities of Rajasthan so reaching here is easy.

Great news has arrived for all those who would love to experience night life in Rajasthan. An event called Jaipur by Night is being conducted to promote night tourism in Jaipur. This is going to take place on 16th and 17th September.

The event will begin with various performances. In fact, 16th will be dedicated to the cultural performances at the majestic Jaigarh Fort. The entry will begin from 5.30 pm onward where Rajasthani troupe will be performing at Chowk 1 & 2 on the beats of vibrant music while others will be showcasing the various other forms of art such as puppet dance, caricature artist, magic show, handicraft show, live painting at night etc.

A musical concert will also follow at Char Bagh in which the pioneer of Indian pop music, Euphoria will make you tap your feet to the beat of their music. Rajasthan Roots, which is a world’s famous band of folk musicians from Rajasthan, will make you groove under the sheet of stars in the moonlit skies. Then, the event will come to an end with dinner.

The next day, Jaipur will experience its first after sunset marathon at night at Clarks Amer. The marathon has been divided into two tracks;

10k with timing chip for age group of 14 years and above

5k without timing chip and for all age group.

There will be other attractions running along like roadside bands, music and nukkad show on the theme etc.
